Circle Dance presents: ACFM
Wednesday 7th May, doors from 7pm
Something new from us here in addition to our seasonal equinox parties:
Acid Communism, collective joy, consciousness raising and creative forms of political expression? These are some of the concerns of ACFM. For 6 years hosts Jeremy Gilbert, Nadia Idle and Keir Milburn have been holding workshops and recording a podcast for Novara Media on this tip, and now they're bringing it to a special Circle Dance session exploring how we think and feel about...
The Future.
Whither the Left? What are our dreams, desires and fears? How do we make sense of now by thinking about what comes next? Drawing on the methods of 1970s socialist feminists, embedded alongside collective listening, films and discussion, the crew will be bringing their wide-lens approach to the topic into the confines of the Cafe for a technicolour trip towards tomorrow.
Or to put it more prosaically, through a combination of talk, workshop and mixed-media experience we'll spend the evening collaboratively coming to terms with what we think and feel about the future.
ACFM has been an ideological lodestar for us at CD HQ, one of our crew has been a co-producer of the show since (almost) its very beginning, and those of you who came to our Spring 2024 party might have experienced a little toke of the ACFM experience ('it's like doing the sesh before the night out'), so its right to bring the guys down to Avalon for an evening-length full-fat dose of AC.
Doors from 7 with the Avalon bar serving hot and cold drinks and a sun-dappled terrace to drink them on. Our friend Will Damazer will be serving fresh hot veganfood so no need to have dinner before you come, and we'll have NEW SUMMER MERCH on sale for the first time (hint: colours are back). Circle Dance DJs will be on the decks to provide clean and deep mood music.
If you want to do your home work, you can start with their recent milestone episode, '50 Shades of Acid'. Listen here or wherever you get your podcasts: https://soundcloud.com/novaramedia/acfm-trip-50-50-shades-of-acid
Tickets £7 in advance or £8 on the door. Limited supply for maximum consciousness-raising!
Ill, unwaged or on UC but want to come? Message us and we'll sort you out.
This earth divided we will make whole
